Procedures on attaining a valuer’s authority to practice
Q : What are the procedures on registration as a valuer?
To comply with the following :
1. Must be a Malaysian citizen or a permanent resident of the country.
2. Possess a degree that is recognised by the Board (may refer to the website for recognised degrees or contact the Institute of Surveyors Malaysia pertaining to the valuation courses).
3. Register as a probationary valuer. (Simultaneously)
4. Register for your Test of Professional Competence (TPC). (Simultaneously)
5. The Board will register you as a probationary valuer and forward a letter to commence your practical training.
6. You must possess 2 years post-qualifying practical training and experience in Malaysia under the supervision of a registered valuer.
7. Upon completion of the 2 years post-qualifying practical training, you will be required to sit for your oral examination (Test of Professional Competence).
8. Only upon passing the Test of Professional Competence, will you be eligible for registration as a registered valuer.
9. Any person desirous of getting himself registered as a registered valuer is requested to procure a copy of the Rules & Guidelines to the Test of Professional Competence for Registration as Valuers by enclosing an M.O./Cheque in favour of the Board of Valuers, Appraisers and Estate Agents Malaysia for RM14.00 which amount is inclusive of postage charges.
