Dear Sir / Madam,
ADVERTISING
The Board had decided, upon repeated representation from registered persons and related professional bodies, to relax the rules on advertising as follows :-
(a) Corporate advertising is now permitted on the following basis :-
- The advertisement should relate strictly to advertising the services offered by the registered person, for example the advertisement can state that the firms of registered persons provide services such as valuation, estate agency, property management, project management, property consultancy, property research, property market and feasibility study.
- The advertisement should not include such unrelated services as insurance, furniture rental, renovation services, etc. The advertisement can only state the services and cannot expand further, such as claiming to specialise in any one of the services or in any geographical area.
- The advertisement should not be laudatory in any manner and must not solicit nor misrepresent.
- The firm’s address, telephone numbers and facsimile numbers are permitted in the advertisement. Not permitted are mission statement, company slogans, mottos and quotations.
- The advertisement should not contain any other information even though factual.
- The advertisement should be in proper places. The permitted places are newspapers, magazines, electronic media, street maps, billboards and cinemas.
- Any areas not covered under (i) to (vi) above requires the prior approval of the Board.
(b) Flyers.
- Flyers are permitted for estate agency practices only provided they relate to the advertisement of the product. The contents must be factual and verifiable.
- Flyers should be properly done and should not be hand-written.
- The flyers should in no way solicit for business.
